Craig Thompson Lecture

Graphic Novelist Craig Thompson will provide a free lecture for the public at Whitman College in conjunction with Whitman's current Sheehan gallery exhibit. Thompson has released four novels, Good-bye, Chunky Rice (1999), Blankets (2003), Carnet de Voyage (2004) and Habibi (2011) and has received four Harvey Awards, three Eisner Awards, and two Ignatz Awards.

A book signing will follow the lecture and the Sheehan gallery will be open to the public.

Whitman College's Sheehan gallery features a semester long exhibit, "Seeing Stories," which includes many internationally recognized graphic author/artists such as Alison Bechdel, Craig Thompson, Joe Sacco, Chris Ware, Lynda Barry, Shimura Takako, Neil Gaiman, R. Crumb, and Emily Carroll as well as the collaborative work of French artists Regis Loisel & Jean-Louis Tripp in "Magasin Generale." Additionally the exhibit features 16 "Colonial Comics" artists, telling snippets of American history through drawing.
