Betty Feves Gallery Exhibit: Brian Sostrom, “Shadows of the West”
Opening Reception: Thursday, March 31, 4:30-6:30pm
Brian’s paintings are inspired by nature, with cows, pigs, skulls and desolate landscapes as subject matter. Using acrylic paint, he builds up layer upon layer over plexiglass to create atmospheric, ethereal paintings. His paintings have a physical presence, which vary with light and the angle from which a piece is viewed. His work has been part of numerous group shows in Oregon and Washington. Brian’s show in the Betty Feves Memorial Gallery will be his first solo show. The Feves Gallery is committed to supporting emerging artists.
Brian was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Washington State University with a major in graphic design and a minor in painting. He has worked in illustration, graphic design and the video game industry. He currently lives in Carnation, Washington.
