Join us at CAVU Cellars for our December Art Show Featuring Randy Klassen, Joyce Klassen, and Warren Rood

CAVU Cellars is delighted to welcome back local artists Randy and Joyce Klassen. Randy and Joyce will be joined for this show by Ceramicist Warren Rood. 

 Specializing in watercolor realism and painting “all things Walla Walla” is more than just a hobby for Randy--it’s a lifestyle. Randy served 40 years with the Evangelical Covenant Church, still doing some art work, such as designing bulletins and creating art glass windows. After marrying Joyce in 1981, he took a break from ministry and for six years, the two of them lived as freelance artists, doing shows, exhibiting in galleries, taking art trips to China and France, and winning some significant awards. After working first in watercolor, Joyce discovered the art of making her own paper and using it to make creative collage pieces. Soon she learned that by incorporating “found” objects in her collage work, a whole new avenue of expression was open to her. Her latest creative endeavor has been to explore encaustic painting.

 Warren first fell in love with clay when he was in college, where he was constantly dreaming of his next creation. He served as a Ceramic lab instructor for three years, teaching wheel throwing, loading and unloading kilns, and making glazes. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Art, he worked in the design/illustration field for over 30 years. For the last five years, he has been teaching both wheel work and sculpting. He has brought innovative methods to the classroom such as majolica, sgraffito, black on black, and horsehair. His latest adventure has been incorporating semi-precious stones into his creations as handles, lids and decorations.
