Can you hear color? Can you see music? For critically and nationally acclaimed jazz vocalist Kathy Kosins, it comes naturally. “I paint the sounds that I hear,” says Kosins.

On Monday, April 30th from 5:00-7:00, critically and nationally acclaimed jazz vocalist and visual artist Kathy Kosins will be leading “Improvisation on Canvas,” a painting workshop at Foundry Vineyards, hosted by ArtWalla.

Participants will listen to the legends of the Be-Bop era – Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis, to name a few – and let their intuition guide their paint brush. In this workshop, Kosins will lead participants in a communication between the senses, guiding members on realist and abstract painting while they listen to music, a process inspired by and mimetic to that of jazz improvisation.

Participants are asked to bring their favorite medium, such as acrylic, watercolor or pastels,  as well as a canvas, however ArtWalla will provide canvases and other minimal supplies if needed. Registration is $30 for ArtWalla members and $40 for non-members.

Space is limited, so register today and don’t miss out on this one of a kind experience!
