Event Details
‘Killing Fields’ is a photo-collage exploration of massacre sites occurring in the Pacific Northwest from early in the 19th century, as America pursued its’ “Manifest Destiny” of the north American continent. The exhibit is a memorial to the indigenous and immigrant people including Native Americans, Chinese Immigrants and American Settlers who lost their lives. By creating this exhibit, the artist, James Cunningham, draws attention to the killing fields of our present time and the humanness of instinct: fear-of-the-other. In depicting these landscapes, Cunningham conveys this reality is never far beneath the surface.
