Artist Kathleen Casteel will be showing at Northstar from August 1st through September 30th.
Kathleen Casteel has been painting the Walla Walla Valley and surrounding landscape for over two decades. Her paintings of water, landforms, mountains, cultivated fields, and remote areas, depict the widely varied and diverse regions of the Pacific Northwest.
A Missouri native, she holds a BFA and MFA in Studio Painting and Drawing. She taught painting and drawing at Green River Community College for 23 years, before moving to Walla Walla in 2013.
Casteel’s paintings are known for their dynamic use of light and dark, skillful handling of color, and varied brushstroke. Her work can be found in the collections of Pierce County, Port of Tacoma, Threshold Group, and many private collections. She has been included in many regional juried shows including Environmental Art Exhibit, Pierce College, 2009; Myth, Current Events, and Environmental Issues, Tacoma Art Museum, 2004; and currently Close In: 1st Inland Northwest Juried Landscape Art Exhibition, Jundt Art Museum, Gonzaga University.
