First Friday Artist Reception: Deborah Bruce and Kay Wessel:

We at CAVU Cellars are delighted to have local artists Deborah Bruce and Kay Wessel show in our art gallery during the month of December. 

Deborah was born in Walla Walla and grew up in the Tri Cities and the West Side of the state near Seattle. She moved from the Tri Cities to Walla Walla in 1990. She has been painting since high school and has worked in oil and acrylics, but when she took a water class about 20 years ago, she was hooked and has worked in watercolor ever since. She was employed for 30 years as a florist and flowers are one of her favorite subjects to paint. Recently, she has been commissioned for dog portraits and loves capturing their wonderful personalities. Deborah endeavors to express in her paintings the joy and delight she finds in what she sees in the amazing creation all around us and considers it a privilege to be able to share her art with others.

Kay, born and raised in Walla Walla, is the 5th Generation of her family in the Walla Walla Valley. She graduated from Washington State University with a BA in Clothing & Textiles and a minor in Art.  After working for a skiwear company in Denver, Colorado, Kay moved back to Walla Walla to raise her family. She owns a custom skiwear company, and also pursues other business interests.  Kay has had several art shows in Walla Walla and her paintings hang in several Walla Walla area businesses. She loves to paint plein air in local vineyards, golden wheat fields, the Blue Mountains, and beautiful European villages.
