Event Details
Shakespeare Walla Walla hosts the Seattle Shakespeare Company. Join us for a live production of "Romeo and Juliet" at Cordiner Hall. Runtime: 90 minutes. This Event is OPEN to the Public. Tickets are $10. We invite you to attend this performance, and in turn, your ticket supports Shakespeare Walla Walla's Residency program and the funds to bring this live performance to our local students who are studying Shakespeare. Why "Romeo and Juliet?" Shakespeare Walla Walla is in its 10th year of offering our popular Residency program in the freshman and AP English classes. This program has been beneficial in connecting freshman to their language arts curriculum. This live performance is the final piece to round out the program by giving the students the opportunity to enjoy a live production of "Romeo and Juliet." About our Residency Program: Our teaching actors immerse the students for five days in activity-based learning. The curriculum balances learning about the culture of Shakespeare’s day, exploring Shakespeare on the stage, and connecting the relevance of Shakespeare in our modern world. We also look to instill the respect for culture and community that comes from understanding art and artist that has influenced the very language we use today. As the capstone, students stage the fight scene and Capulet Ball from "Romeo and Juliet."
