This Fall ArtEscape Studios located in downtown Walla Walla will host art workshops in encaustics, oil painting, and woodblock printmaking. These workshops provide an opportunity for the curious and creative minded to come out and explore art making with the guidance of a highly skilled artist, and with a limited monetary commitment (all supplies will be provided). Workshops will provide foundation information on working with the mediums, and will center on guided art making and exploration.
All materials will be provided, and no experience is required. Due to potential hazards that can accompany working with the tools in these workshops, all participants must be 18 or older or be accompanied by an adult.
Printmaking- 40$- SATURDAY 10/26, 1-4 PM
In this workshop participants will use quality printmaking tools to create original prints on paper and cloth. Each participant will get to carve a woodblock and print it on watercolor paper and a cotton T-shirt. Participants are invited to bring up to 3 other pieces of clothing or material to print on. The inks make lasting designs on cloth, and withstand many washes without fading. This class offers a great experience for any beginner artist, while giving the experienced artist a chance to try new tools and create in a collaborative environment.
About the Instructor:
Patty Gardner will partner with ArtEscape Studios to present this workshop. Patty grew up in Spokane, where she began working in wax and bronze casting in High School. She continued on to study visual and graphic design, moved to Seattle to work as a graphic designer with JCPenney and then at Microsoft. In Seattle she attended classes and workshops in Letterpress printing and woodblock engraving at the School of Visual Concepts. That is where she fell in love with the art of woodblock engraving and printing.
