Between the Lines features recent paintings by Barbara Martin completed during an artist residency at Brush Creek Ranch Foundation for the Arts in Wyoming. The exhibit shows the progression of her study and exploration of gestural painting, from developing a catalog of gestural marks, to creating one or more marks as individual paintings, and ultimately to producing a series of complete paintings incorporating gestural mark making. 

Barbara has exhibited her work nationally receiving numerous awards, including the Juror’s Award in the national Dream show at Arc Gallery in San Francisco, Best in Show at Chico Art Center’s 2018 national juried exhibition, and a Blue Ribbon Award at the Lake Oswego 2018 Festival of the Arts. She also teaches art classes and is a certified creativity coach. Barbara grew up on three continents, has lived in twelve states coast to coast and moved to Hillsboro, Oregon about six years ago.
