"Of Myth & Memory: A retrospective of Selected Works of Art J. Frank Munns" runs from October 14th - December 14th at the Sheehan Gallery on the Whitman College Campus.

Gallery Hours are 12-5 pm Monday-Friday and 12-4 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Whitman College has added two life-size bronze figures to its outdoor campus art collection.  The pieces, "American Satyr" (1982) and "The Mistress of the Wild Beasts" (1988) were created by artist. J. Frank Munns and donated by his estate.

The pieces can stand as individual scupltures, but Munns also used them in a number of performance art pieces, including "An Initiation Cermony," performed in 1989 at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle.  "American Satyr" was also a featured piece that traveled nationwide in the exhibition "Other Gods: Containers of Belief."

the two figures are in an alcoved grove between the west entrance of Whitman's Maxey Hall and the main entrance to Maxey Auditorium.
