    • Gesa Power House Theatre - 111 N 6th Ave, Walla Walla, Washington 99362

Gesa Power House Theatre presents a screening of the new documentary film "Suicide: The Ripple Effect" on Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. A community conversation will be held following the screening.

    "This film will save lives."
    - Dr. John Draper, Director National Suicide Prevention Lifeline USA

At age 19, Kevin Hines attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. Seventeen years later, he still struggles with many of the same symptoms that led him to attempt to take his life, but he is on a mission to use his story to help others stay alive. Kevin has also been one of the key catalysts in helping end a nearly 80-year long fight to construct suicide prevention net on the iconic San Francisco bridge.

Kevin takes a journey to better understand the ripple effects his suicide attempt had on his family, friends, and the first responders who helped save him. He’s also working to shine light on inspirational individuals, families, and organizations who are using personal pain to help others find the hope they need to heal.

“This film shows my journey to better understand the effects of my suicide attempt on my family, friends and the first responders who saved my life,” says Hines. “My hope is the film will get people talking so those struggling can find ways to connect and heal.”

People around the globe are uniting and responding to calls for change with the goal of having a tremendous positive impact on reducing the number of suicides and suicide attempts around the world.

Reserved seating tickets ($15 adults, $10 students) will go on sale to the public on Thursday, June 14, online (www.phtww.com) or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.

This event is held in honor of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. If you are struggling with mental health or contemplating suicide, please call the Walla Walla Crisis Response Team at (509) 524-2999 of the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK.

    • Gesa Power House Theatre - 111 N 6th Ave, Walla Walla, Washington 99362

Gesa Power House Theatre presents Every Brilliant Thing starring Kevin Loomer and directed by Nancy Simon, with performances Friday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m.

Every Brilliant Thing is a one-actor play, adapted by playwright Duncan McMillan from his own short story “Sleeve Notes”. British comedian Jonny Donahue, who originated the role, shares in the writing credit. The play’s title refers to a list – of everything wonderful in the world – that the narrator writes in response to his mother attempting suicide. He starts the list at age seven with items like "ice cream" and "staying up past your bedtime," and as the narrator grows older, the list grows longer.

The play’s story spans nearly three decades and several life-changing events, evoking laughter and tears in equal measure. The play has received critical acclaim in London, Edinburgh, and Off-Broadway in New York City.

“It’s the funniest play you’re ever likely to see about depression, and also the most moving” - British Theatre Guide

Every Brilliant Thing invites some audience participation, primarily through asking people to read a few words aloud during the performance from slips of paper they are given as they enter the theater. A few audience members are incorporated into scenes, with the actor doing most of the heavy lifting. The play will be performed "in the round" with on-stage seating.

Kevin Loomer is a familiar face on Walla Walla's many stages - under the spotlight and behind the scenes. He performed this role on the Gesa Power House Theatre stage last September, and is active in local theater productions, including at The Little Theatre of Walla Walla. Kevin is the Director of Theatre Arts at Walla Walla Community College.

Director Nancy Simon is Professor Emerita at Whitman College where she taught theater classes and directed at Harper Joy Theatre for nearly 50 years. Following her retirement, she remains active in the local theater scene. She recently directed Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery at The Little Theatre of Walla Walla.

Reserved seating tickets ($20 Adults; $15 Students) will be available to Members on Thursday, May 31, to e-mail subscribers on Thursday, June 7, and to the public on Thursday, June 14. Purchase tickets online or by calling the box office at  (509) 529-6500.  Beer and wine will be available for purchase, and may be taken into the theater. Outside food and beverages are not allowed. Invite your friends and let them know you are going on Facebook!

This event is held in honor of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. If you are struggling with mental health or contemplating suicide, please call the Walla Walla Crisis Response Team at (509) 524-2999 or the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK.

See what these guys are all about here www.soundandstone.com/.

    • Gesa Power House Theatre 111 N 6th Ave, Walla Walla, WA

Gesa Power House Theatre presents Chase Padgett in his one man show "Nashville Hurricane" on Saturday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m.

About 40 years ago, a mysterious acoustic guitarist appeared from nowhere, conquered the music industry, and vanished without a trace… until now. Chase Padgett becomes a manager, a mother, a mentor, and the guitar prodigy himself as each one tells their side of the rise, demise, and resurrection of the best damn guitar player you’ve never heard of: the Nashville Hurricane.

“If this isn’t worth 75 minutes of your time than I don’t know what is.”
    Houston Press

During the course of this one man masterpiece the audience learns about Henry Waltrip (the Nashville Hurricane) from his humble trailer park beginnings alongside his white trash mother, Brenda, to the crazy gigs on the road with his blues playing mentor, Tyrone. The stories and songs unfold into hilarious rants on love and music, a riveting tale involving the dark side of show biz, and blazing guitar work leading up to the finale - a one man acoustic rendition of "Devil Went Down to Georgia."

    • Gesa Power House Theatre 111 North 6th Ave, Walla Walla, WA, USA

Gesa Power House Theatre will screen the new documentary film "Love, Gilda" on Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m.

Comedienne Gilda Radner puts a smile on the face of anyone who remembers watching her as one of the original cast members of "Saturday Night Live," where she created and portrayed such now-classic comic characters as Roseanne Roseannadanna, Emily Litella, and Lisa Loopner. She quickly rose to meteoric fame in television, movies and on Broadway.

"Love, Gilda" weaves together recently discovered audiotapes, interviews with comedian friends, rare home movies and diaries read by modern-day comedians inspired by Gilda (Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Cecily Strong), and opens up a unique window into the honest and whimsical world of a beloved performer whose greatest role was sharing her story.

"Love, Gilda," directed by Lisa D'Apolito, is a true autobiography, told in Gilda's words and in her own voice. Working with the Radner Estate, D'Apolito unearthed a collection of diaries and personal audio and videotapes documenting her childhood, her comedy career, her relationships and ultimately, her struggle with cancer. This never-before-seen footage and journal entries form the narrative spine of the documentary, allowing Gilda to tell her own story - through the laughter and sometimes the tears.

This film has a runtime of about 90 minutes. Beer, wine, popcorn, and snacks will be available for purchase and may be taken into the theater. Outside food and beverages are not allowed.

Reserved seating: $15 Adults, $10 Students (in advance); $18 Adults, $12 Students (at the door). Tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, August 31, online (www.phtww.com) or by calling the box office (509-529-6500).

    • Fort Walla Walla Museum 755 Myra Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362, USA

A basket weaving workshop will be taught in the Grand Hall at Fort Walla Walla Museum. The instructor will be Maribeth Bergstrom.

Students will create an Appalachian egg basket, which is a double-bottomed basket. Round reed and flat reed for weaving the main body of the basket will be available in natural blond. Reed dyed in other colors will be available for contrast weaves.

It will take most students the entire four hours to complete a basket. Some students may finish earlier, some will take a little longer. Students should expect to stay for the duration of the class for instruction and assistance.

Some of the reeds are lightly dyed. It is possible (but unlikely) that some of the nontoxic dye would temporarily discolor light clothing or hands. This is temporary, but people concerned may bring and wear waterproof gloves. Participants should wear older clothing and bring an old towel that can be placed across the lap to absorb any dampness from the wet reed.

The cost for this workshop is $25 for members of Fort Walla Walla Museum and $30 for non-members. It is recommended for adult and senior participants; the minimum recommended age for participation is 14 years. Please register early as space is limited. Register at https://www.fwwm.org/all-events/basket-weaving-1

PIGS ON THE WING - Finding the Dark Side of the Moon
Gesa Power House Theatre ( 111 N 6th Ave, Walla Walla)
FRI, OCT 12th 7PM - all ages welcome
    Tickets: http://phtww.com/show/pigs-on-the-wing-pink-floyd-tribute/

Portland, Oregon based Pink Floyd tribute Pigs on the Wing is pleased to announce their 2018 production, 'Finding the Dark Side of the Moon' – a 2 set retrospective live experience culminating in a full performance of Pink Floyd's 1973 concept album The Dark Side of the Moon.

Tracing its roots to a one-off performance in Portland in 2006, Pigs on the Wing has steadily developed a reputation for delivering a high quality, high energy take on Pink Floyd's music steeped in the NW's own rich musical heritage. All of the members of the band are seasoned veterans of the original rock scene and balance a decidedly un-tribute like attitude towards the music with a deep understanding of the precision and importance of Pink Floyd in many fans' lives. The result is a sound and experience both refreshing in delivery and yet true to the original – something the band believes sets it apart from other Pink Floyd tributes.

Finding the Dark Side of the Moon: After immersing themselves in the polished rock theatrics of The Wall during the 2017 season – the band felt it was time to try something different. Pigs on the Wing's 2018 production - 'Finding the Dark Side of the Moon', represents a full circle in some ways. As the band's 2 remaining original members Matt Jones and Jason Baker relate, Pigs on the Wing's very first show was a performance of The Dark Side of the Moon. In the ensuing 11 years, the band's regional fanbase has grown exponentially alongside the band themselves as musicians, as well as the scale of the show as an immersive audio-visual experience. This time around – expect 2 full sets of Pink Floyd – the first a loosely chronological retrospective of Pink Floyd's work before becoming a household name; and the second a full performance of what many would agree is amongst rock music's finest works from cover to cover, The Dark Side of the Moon.

Pigs on the Wing is ( L toR): Eric Welder ( bass, vocals); Pete Galluzzo ( sax); David Lindenbaum ( guitar, vocals); Matt Jones ( keys, vocals); Bryan Fairfield ( drums); Keeley St. Clair ( vocals, acoustic guitar); Jason Baker (guitar, vocals

Big Love - Written by Charles Mee; Directed by Christopher Petit

Big Love retells Aeschylus’s The Suppliants, setting the play in a villa in modern day Italy, where fifty brides have fled to avoid marrying their fifty cousins. While the brides and grooms wait for their wedding day, the play explores issues of gender politics, love, and domestic violence. "I wanted to go back to what some people thought was one of the earliest plays of the Western World and see how that would look today, see if it still spoke to the moment, and of course it does. It’s all about refugees and gender wars and men and women trying to find what will get them through the rubble of dysfunctional relationships, and anger and rage and heartache.” - Charles Mee

The Rude Mechanicals will debut their live theatrical production of Hamlet at Gesa Power House Theatre on October 20 at 7:00 p.m.

One of Shakespeare’s most famous plays and often quoted in popular culture, Hamlet tells the tale of Denmark’s grieving prince who seeks to avenge his father’s murder by bringing the new king, Claudius (his uncle and his mother’s new husband) to justice. Hamlet vividly portrays the power of overwhelming grief and rage while exploring themes of treachery, revenge, and moral corruption.

The Rude Mechanicals’ production of Hamlet stars Cameron Milton in the leading role. Milton has worked professionally for fifteen years in California on the NBC network, performed and trained with The Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theatre in New York, and acted in multiple films in Portland. He holds a BFA in Theatre Arts from the University of Idaho. Other actors in major roles include Jim Wutzke as Claudius and the Ghost of King Hamlet, Miriam Kerzner as Gertrude, Robert Chisholm as Polonius, Claire Dann as Ophelia, Anthony Ochoa as Rosencrantz and Gravedigger, Samantha Weakley as Gulidenstern and Gravedigger, and Bryan Grossman as Horatio.

The show is directed by Ellicia Elliott, co-founder and artistic director of The Rude Mechanicals. She holds a MA in Theatre Production from Central Washington University, and is a candidate for a MFA in Directing from the University of Idaho. Elliott’s concept was inspired by and has received the blessing of Bill Rauch, the artistic director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, focusing on the process of grief, bereavement, and revenge in a contemporary time. Ghosts from the past will be visible through design elements, tying in the history of this famous and gut-wrenching play to how it is still incredibly relevant in our current time.

Reserved seating tickets: $25-$20 Adults, $15 Students (in advance) and $28-$23 Adults, $17 Students (at the door)

Gesa Power House Theatre presents country music prodigy EmiSunshine in concert on Saturday, November 3 at 8:00 p.m.

It’s nearly impossible to describe the exceptional talents of EmiSunshine, a 13-year-old East Tennessee prodigy who has captured the nation’s attention as a singer, songwriter and multiinstrumentalist.

Steeped in Appalachian music, Emi is a true vocal stylist. Influenced by legends who have made history (Loretta Lynn/Tanya Tucker/The Louvin Brothers), Emi has taken the world by surprise with her ability to combine her youthful, bubbly disposition with deep, meaningful and rather dark song content seeped in lonesome. Bringing her imagination to life, Emi has been able to write and record her own music, cementing her reputation as a well-crafted storyteller.

Since her break-out at 9 years old, this fearless performer has performed on The Today Show, The Grand Ole Opry, and at The Ryman, and has more than 500,000 Facebook followers.

While her music has been described as “old-timey," she adds her own unique blend of roots music that is equal parts Americana, bluegrass, gospel and country, with a sprinkling of the blues.

Reserved seating tickets ($35-$30) will go on sale to the public on Sunday, April 1, online at www.phtww.com or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
