« Tournées » French Film Series - La Noire de . . . (Black Girl)

A classic from Senegalese filmmaker Ousmane Sembène, Black Girl chronicles the alienation of a young African woman in France in the 1960's. A searing social and political critique.

The Whitman College and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature are excited to host the « Tournées » French Film Series, Sunday evenings, 21 January - 25 February, featuring films focused on women.  The « Tournées » Film Festival is made possible with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S., the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC), the French American Cultural Fund, Florence Gould Foundation and Highbrow Entertainment.
