RELIEF PRINTING WORKSHOP with Judith Baumann, Master Printer Saturday & Sunday, November 11-12, 2017 10:00 am – 5:00 pm both days Multiple Block Relief Printing Techniques at Crow’s Shadow Level: Beginning to Intermediate; ages: 16+ Cost: $150 ($25 non-refundable fee due at registration, remaining $125 due at class); scholarships available for CTUIR members Over the course of two days, workshop participants will learn to carve, register, and print a unique two-layer linoleum relief print! Relief printing is one of the oldest printmaking techniques and can be used in the creation of infinite artistic styles. From the surface of a piece of specialty linoleum, negative areas are carved away, leaving a raised surface. This surface is then inked by hand and printed on paper through a press. This workshop will also focus on using color theory in relief. Participants will create a two block relief print using two colors of ink to create a third where color overlaps in the printing process. Participants will work to create a limited edition of their own prints, perfect for both skill and portfolio building. All materials are provided. Participants will be emailed prior to the workshop with further instructions, including source imagery suggestions. Several scholarships are available to tribal members, contact us for details, or to reserve your spot at 541-276-3954.
