Art Opening: Augusta Sparks Farnum & Kim Nemeth @ Foundry Vineyards

  • 04 May 2018
  • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Foundry Vineyards - 1111 Abadie St, Walla Walla, Washington 99362

Foundry Vineyards is pleased to announce PLAYEDAPART-APARTPLAYED, an exhibition of photography and weaving by Augusta Sparks Farnum and Kim Nemeth. The opening reception is Friday, May 4th from 5pm-7pm and will be on display through July 29, 2018.

This exhibition features two artists who are based out of Walla Walla, Washington. Though Farnum and Nemeth work in different mediums their artwork is exhibited in harmony as both bodies of work are interested in the concepts of movement, light, and the ephemeral.

Augusta Sparks Farnum, a fifth generation photographer from New England, landed in Walla Walla after completing her art degree from Bard College. Farnum works in many mediums such as ceramic and drawing but has gone back to her roots in photography in the exhibition. This series of work is an exciting and almost magical experience of realism.

Kim Nemeth's interest in weaving began when she was an intern at the Kirkman House in Walla Walla through the AmeriCorps program. In 2012, Nemeth began her business 'woven' where she sells wearable and functional items – which allows her to finance her woven artworks. This exhibition features a woven grid of threads that hang from the ceiling causing the viewer to have a three-dimensional experience of texture and movement.
